Sherlock – a modern adaptation
- Created by : Steven Moffat & Mark Gatiss [both Dr Who writers]
- Both Moffat & Gatiss are big Sherlock Holmes fans
- Spoke to The Sherlock Holmes Society of London
- Matt Smith was the first person to unsuccessfully audition for the role of Watson but was too “barmy”, and the producers required someone “straighter” for Watson. Shortly after, Moffat cast Smith as the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who.
- Series 2 confirmed : based on the stories “A Scandal in Bohemia”, The Hound of the Baskervilles and “The Final Problem”
