Hi Chris, Nice video, always wondered how you do all your recording and editing so well. Will be interesting to see the rest of the parts.

One question. You didn’t say what software you use when you demoed the browser live streaming. Can you let us in on what you use there?

That’s a feature of Wirecast, it includes a client software package called Desktop Presenter.

For Windows or Mac. And it works under Linux with WINE, but Compiz kills it.

Looks like a significant investment… If I wanted to build a similar recording environment, what would it cost me approximately?

I’ve never totalled it all up, if you include computer equipment and software… Must be near $20k.

But much much lower requirements to go audio only, so it’s much easier to start there, and build out.

how many $ did the studio and editing cost as it is now?

  • Anonymous

Wirecast is Windows software.  Isn’t there suitable video streaming software with the same capability that runs under Linux WITHOUT using WINE?

It’s a garage?! I knew it was just a green screen and you weren’t really on the starship enterprise or whatever, but… wow

All I have to say is good job Chris. These “In Depth Look” episodes are really great. I especially love the way you are doing the next episode or two on you garage studio. I want to build my own studio and having something to reference my decisions against really helps.

All I have right now is an ASUS G53 Laptop, 21in TV/Monitor, Logitech C910 Webcam, and the Logitech H530 Headset. As it is now, its nice and gets the job done, but I want something professional.

Thank you for the good advice, tips and links.
