Good review, I would probably of mentioned space combat, since that is certainly a hot topic (Personally I like it in a way as they can control the encounters, but it would be nice to have different modes as well, including the ability to fly normally (perhaps in PVP maps?).

There are dialogues further on in the game where you companion is involved, although I agree that it feels a bit bolted on sometimes, for example I had a mission to duel someone, his minions stood down and watched, but mine helped me, which kinda defeated the aspect of the duel in the story!

The crafting itself I’m really enjoying, I can definatly see that as a way to keep people playing, as well as the orange gear that is moddable, so players can try to look how they want (which lets face it, players always like!).

Overall I’m having a great time in TOR, the bugs I’ve encountered have not been that bad, the resource bug was annoying (but has already been fixed) and the other issues I have, like the UI not been modable enough have already been addressed by the devs, so I’m not that bothered by them. I love how they havn’t used a group finder tool to try and force players to interact to find groups, ever since WoW added it, it made getting groups easier to find, but people stopped talking to each other and started treating each other like crap because tehy didn’t need to be nice anymore to find a group!

Time to start working on a ship comparison chart for TOR

Good point on the space combat. That’s an area this game is really weak. I’ve heard rumors that they will address it in the future.. But who knows!

for me TOR can wait until the Retail Box is down in price

My main game will remain STO, if i play TOR at all it is to see the Story once, not to grind endgame Stuff.

Hye Chris nice episode as always, would love an In depth look on Virus Protection and maybe just whole system protection, from watching techsnap we see security issues all the time, so what virus products/protection products do you recommend for the main three platforms.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to play this game, eventually. A few things are stopping me from jumping in right away, which I’ll mention here.

- Money. I gots none, but will get some soon.

- BURNED on STO, Rift, and other MMO’s that came out recently. I’m not sure I want to invest in another game that everyone say’s is great, but ends up being a flop. Not saying KOTOR is a flop, I love what Bioware does, but I’m gonna wait.

- Finally, I’m back on WoW, and I’d be spending what ever little free time I have on KOTOR vs the time I’d be spending on WoW.

Sorry, but for these reasons alone, I’m just not ready to invest in another MMO. I’ll pick it up, but it will take a few months before I take the plunge. I may even wait till there’s a free trial period, where I can try the game for a week for free, and if I like what I see, I can invest in full membership.

Being a STO/SWG/UO/EQ veteran I liked how Bioware looked at a lot of the other developers and learned from their mistakes :

Vehicles in game at launch: check
Space combat at launch: check
Quest displayed on maps:check
Sit in captains chair: check
Ship interior: check

I have to say, as someone that has no interest in SWTOR I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive it for completely disintegrating my STO fleet and also my LOTRO kin. It’s an arsehole.

I agree in a way, but with all the crap releases the past 5yrs or so this is one of the best.

If their was a “trekkie” game out worth a crap Im sure chris wouldnt have even made passing comment on TOR.

The minor attributes will no doubt be important for end-game play, plus the best armour in the game is only available with max light/dark points.  In my opinion, that completely removes any freedom you have of how to play your character.

Being able to join up with others for certain missions doesn’t solve any of the problems I mentioned either, since you’ll still be competing against anyone NOT in your group and the fact each class gets their own unique missions just forces people to want to go off and do their own thing, not just stay behind watching someone else complete their class specific missions.  

These are inherent flaws in most MMO’s, I just don’t understand why they’ve been ignored for a supposedly modern MMO in 2012.  It’s very dated in my opinion, and is going to be over shadowed by other MMO’s coming out in the coming years.

Dont blame ToR or BIOWARE for being good.
Blame Craptic for being just that…A crapy studio that Shouldnt have got the ST IP in the first place.
Star Trek deserved a big company like Bioware to make STO…not some crappy, dishonest with no ethics and all it wants to do is milk us (trekkies) for our moneyz as much as they can.

Thye thing is, the devs already stated thet they will go back to space and make it better. (PVP anyone?)
They only shoehorned Space to the game because they were being crucified on the forums for not having space.
I would rather wait for an expantion, like SWG had. SWG launched without space…then it got the jump to light speed expantion that added space…and it was an awsome game…until the NGE.
What I am trying to say is simple, Space will be much bettr, maybe in 6 months, a year or sooner.
But whatever they come up with…it will have a Z axis…
STO…sigh…I wish i could trade my LTS for a 6 months sub to ToR…

I’ve found that Gault, a bounty hunter companion, has some great lines in conversations with other npcs. He is still quiet, but when he does speak up it tends to be very funny.

Finally played, may I say I LOVE IT! 9.5/10.

Why KOTOR is better than WoW top 5.

1. Voice overs:

- KOTOR has quite a bit, and 95% of VO’s are in quests alone.

- WoW, you have a limited VO and most of the game is text… sooo…

2. Spec’s: Customizing class

- KOTOR, not only is it actually has class customization, but there are 6, read them, 6 different spec types PER CLASS!

- WoW, you had a system that was customizable , but changed it because… why again?

3. Crafting/moding

- KOTOR, takes the work out of it, FINALLY!!! You no longer have to go out and look for crap, but you pay your little buddy to go out and look for them. You can also mod some gear to get better stats.

- WoW, you have to grind for mats and build your crap, yawn. Plus… modding… the only thing they have are for high level items with gems and enchants… meh…

4. Graphics

- KOTOR has some nice graphics, though glitches are present, the worlds actually feel like your on a world.

- WoW, sooooo your system still has the same old graphic system that was great 6 years ago, but now look… goofy.

5. Dialogs

- KOTOR has a dialog option system which I thought would take forever. Actually, it’s fast and the dialog options move the story forward, as well as give interesting twists to the game. Works great in group too!

- WoW, none.

I think you have rose colored glasses on. I’m at 50 in TOR and that’s it. End game is lame as hell. PVP is broken, and dailies are boring as hell. The crew skills are way lame compared to the DOff system, and space? They don’t have space in at launch, they have a space-themed arcade game. Unless you want to keep rolling alts forever and ever, TOR gets old fast too. Same complaints about end-game are there as with STO, it just takes slightly longer to get there. And for those of you saying “oh the game is new,” not really, they waited 3 years to release it, and it still has massive flaws that make it lame to play at 50. The grass is always greener…

 actually read the up and coming dev post for tor they are going to change this game to a grind fest. the flash points and heroics missions will be hard as hell and what the blogs say are level your toons too the highest level you can on hutta korriban and so on and if you just do all the missions and not grind solo you wont get alot of things you should get.Xp will be higher in solo and will be reduced to a split 50/50 if in solo you would get 400xp you would only get 200 in a group of 2 items in a group will change as well the roll rate the % will drop as the party size increases and xp will decrease the same way.flash points and heroics missions will get harder as well as the group gets larger. all in all the story role play is the best part of the game. pvp crafting and the companion system is boring broken and it sucks galaxies and sto are the best type of crafting ive seen if you dont work to make the item then someone else did the work and crafted it for you i call that lazy.the crafting system should be different skills for each companion not the same thing for all that is why it sucks i rate tor a 5 out of 10 i give sto a 7 out of 10 wow a 9 out of 10 sto and wow has awsome graphics tor has graphics that dont run on all computers and that is another issue people has
