Want LAS to take a look at Cinnamon Desktop? Let us KNOW!

2012 Predictions:

  • Google TV will make a comeback.
  • Google TV will then become just as irrelevant by the end of 2012 as it was at the end of 2011.
  • Google will release Android 5.0 with a whole new UI.
  • We will all still be using X11 (and not Wayland) by years end.
  • Windows Phone 7 sales will be incredibly slow, causing Nokia to come up with a new strategy. There will be much laughter.
  • The Raspberry Pi will become available and sell out faster than they can make them.
  • Mint will continue to gain popularity… then suddenly drop down significantly (mirroring PCLinuxOS’s rise and fall in user share).
  • Intel will start (or join) another new Linux distro (forgetting about Moblin, Meego and Tizen).
  • Redhat will make more money and Fedora will continue to lose market-share.
  • Canonical will transition away from the desktop. Ubuntu desktop will live on, but receive less love. We will complain much.
  • btrfs will become the default FS on popular Linux distros. Fedora will ship with a major btrfs bug that gets Chris or Bryan really worked up. OMG!
  • In a defense to Mint’s growth, and to directly appease The Linux Action Show, Ubuntu 12.04 will be GREAT!
  • Oracle will start the year strong, but by the end of 2012 will be reduced back to their core strengths.
  • The Linux Action Show will read a mirage proposal on air, between two Linux geeks. But email it to angela@jupiterbroadcasting.com SO WE SEE IT!

    OMG BRYAN LUNDUKE!!!!

  • http://profiles.google.com/bwat47 Brandon Watkins

    Nice to see bryan back!

  • M. David Geye

Yes, I would like to see a Cinnamon review.  I would also be interested in a segment on Linpus.  So many efforts are being made to fix (or replace) Gnome Shell, but this distro’s efforts seem to have been overlooked.  What Linpus is pitching in their Lite Desktop Edition might be a sweet spot for new Linux adopters.

  • Kawrea

    BRYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

  • Spam

    GoDaddy sponsor == close tab.

  • Mohan

    Yes talk about Cinnamon!

  • Will Kromer

    YESSSSSSSSS BRYYYYYYAN!!!!!

  • Will Kromer

Did I really have HTML5 video just crash? That’s flash’s job.

  • Mikec

    Congratulations, LAS!

Between still accepting money from GoDaddy, and with the return of Brian Londuke, you have cost yourself a listener.

  • Torcontact

If you’re stopping LAS because Bryan is here, surely you didn’t start following the show more than 5 months ago, so no big loss there.

Also to all people complaining of Godaddy sponsoring LAS, does the company who employ you is perfect? I don’t think so. You are bunch of hypocrites.  And try creating a company and see if you refuse customers or sponsors so easily! Welcome to the real world.

  • deTsagKa

Awesome episode, very entertaining :) It was about freaking time. Keep it up guys, you ROCK!

  • David P

I’d kind of like to see a Cinnamon review as well. Personally I’m enjoying it, I’ve tried it on Mint12 as well as Ubuntu 11.10 and there’s a sense that it could be the nice compromise between Gnome 2 and 3 people would hope for.

Was it worth a total fork? I don’t know, maybe it could have been done better with extensions. Still, it’s good, and I’d highly recommend it to people who can’t stand Unity but don’t feel like up and dumping their distro just to get something usable.

  • Mikec

I almost dropped the show back in July after Mr. Londuke showed himself to be a poor sport after Linux Format Magazine published their podcast ratings.  Fortunately, he stepped away not long after that and I continued to listen and enjoy the show even more in his absence.

With his return, which conincides with my discovery of GoDaddy’s stance on SOPA, I have absolutely no compelling reason to listen to this show any more.

The remainder of your reply is a gratuitous assertion, and thus can be gratuitously ignored.  If GoDaddy’s political activities are of no consequence to you, that is your perogative.  I do not happen to feel I can ignore it any further

  • Dale Moore

You GoDaddy whiners need to give it a break. The boycott worked, not only did they stop their support, they pulled any and all support for any future SOPA.

Stop blaming LAS for stuff their sponsors do..do you change the channel when an ad from a company supporting SOPA comes on? no, you don’t. so cut it out, and grow up

  • Lunduke

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out Mikec. Lunduke Nation will be just fine without you.

  • Mikec

Nice to know I made the right choice.

  • Bryanlunduke

Just to be clear.  Whoever replied as “Lunduke” is not me… “Bryan Lunduke”.  That said… I agree. :)

  • Mikec

I’m shocked you haven’t retromoderated my opinion out of this thread, frankly.

  • Kevins

Welcome Back Bryan. And to all contributors of the Linux Action Show Chris, Alan…  A Happy belated New Year.

  • LASJunkie

BMAN !!!! Awesome! Glad to see you!

I hope Alan is planning something new! He rocks.

  • Johnm

I think Alan is a great show host. However; i am so glad the B man is back. Without the Bryan intro’s, the show just was not the same. I remember when Bryan had a goatee and he looked like one of those college professors that offers late night tutoring to female freshmen.

To the comments about Godaddy; those people need to grow up and join the real world. In the real world where adults live, everything is painted in shades of grey.

  • MedinaLinuxLover

Welcome back Bryan! You make my week. I love crazy guys.

  • http://torturedutopian.myopenid.com/ T_U

Definitely appreciated Alan as well, but seeing Bryan is back definitely enlightened my day and put me in a good mood — most needed as my day didn’t start in a good way ;-)

  • Dzontra

    You almost nailed it!

  • Zek The Penguin

    OMG! Bryan! You’re alive! WB!

  • Zek The Penguin

I hope you guys have Alan on every now and then. He did a terrific job of sitting in and co-hosting while Bryan was away.

  • CaptainElliott

Bryan’s back! YES! I hope there is a possibility of Jupiter@nite that show was so funny. Still welcome back.

  • Imran Bhullar

You people are doing really great, But please have Allan Jude in every show. He has done a terrific job & have an in-depth knowledge to serve the purpose in a better way.

    Cinnamon…

What is there to review? It’s a Windows 95 menu and taskbar with a teeny tiny “favorites” dock on the far left. We’ve seen it before. If that was the first thing I saw when I swapped to Linux, I would of left.

  • Anonymous

Oh as far as spiffs, every single company offers spiffs. They can be company spiffs (get rid of this product) or manufacturer spiffs (promote this new product). You ever bought something based on suggestion of a salesperson, they  probably earned a spiff.

Good to see Brian back. Good job, guys! Not that Alan was bad! Miss you Alan and look forward to seeing ya in Technsap (which is very good, btw).

  • mihajovics

YEY!!! Bryan!!! (Love U 2 Allen)

  • Bryanlunduke

Why?  I don’t censor.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion (if if said opinion is completely retarded).

  • Duderino

Dude… STFU! And go away… Dumb ass!

  • Mikec

    -snicker-

  • Aviad Raviv

Welcome back Bryan!! ^_^ I second that “have Allan Jude on the show as well” notion…

May you all live long and prosper, from hotfortech.

    P.S.

  • JackDeth

    Zzzzzzzz…….

  • JackDeth

Welcome back Bryan!! It’s good to have your energy and enthusiasm back in the program.  On a side note, I just saw you take a slurp from a McDonald’s cup. Knock it off! If a company that big wants extra brand name exposure, make ‘em pay for it!!! That’s right. Right now….go send them a bill!   :-P

    HE’S BACK!

  • pdiddles03

I’m so happy Bryan is back.  I think this show will be my replacement for TWIT.  TWIT has become a group of drunken old fools.
