Privatized Domestic Spying | Unfilter 14

It’s been called the law enforcement tool of the new century, today we look into these massively interconnected surveillance systems, where they are being used, and the history behind them.

Successfully avoiding prosecution for their role in the 2008 meltdown, Goldman Sachs has had a great week. We’ll bring you up-to-date on their major victory, and why it reveals a dangerous cronyism in the Obama Administration.

Plus: You give us a reality check, and we respond. Plus some follow up on one of our favorite stories, that just keeps getting better.

All that and a lot more, in this week’s Unfilter.

Saying voting 3rd party is wasting your vote promotes same mentality that keeps real choice and honest politicians from being brought to the forefront. Its not a protest vote, its voting for the candidate that you most believe in. I encourage everyone to look at both Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Jill Stein (Green Party). The internet has proven to be very effective at giving tiny voices a huge audience. Money doesn’t mean everything, we’ve witnessed a commerce revolution, journalism revolution, media revolution, etc. from the rise of the internet. You of all groups should know how powerful a stage the internet can be and if we promote real choice and real candidates (instead of corporate backed shills) we can help foster a voice that’s being silenced by CNN, Fox, HLN, MSNBC, etc. I say this being a realist and knowing full well a 3rd party more than likely won’t win this time around, but if we build towards something greater, whose to say we won’t see a libertarian, green party, etc candidate being brought into the national spotlight next time around. I love Unfilter and all the shows at JB, keep up the great work and I wish you all the best.

P.S. Those who are fiscally inclined should know that Gary Johnson is the only candidate running whose balanced a government budget; when he left office New Mexico had a surplus. I don’t agree with everything he’s done or even all his ideas, but anyone who is for ending the every growing military empire we’ve become, bringing financial responsibility to government, and ending the war on drugs, seems like a pretty good guy to me.

I think he’s a person who knows the importance of being aware of the world around him before he’s a sysadmin.
