    What was the part they mentioned about people who bought 6 or 12 months subscriptions to Champions Online getting access to STO-beta, is that correct? Do you need to fill out some form of some sort?

    Look at the beer bottles. It looks like they are reflecting the green ness and somehow messing up the greenscreen so they look strange around the edges, like someone did a cheap job of pasting them there.

    Hey guys, facinating stuff, really got my head turned on the STO as an alternative to Eve idea, I'm an eve player, have been for ages, but my goodness, i kinda like the ideas being talked about for STO, and i've always loved the startrek games. i think i'd like to see something that isn't a grind fest when it comes to MMO's. So we'll see how this turns out.

    On another note, what's the deal with the audio? tried Miro, vlc and totem on Nix and even youtubes, Simplly painful audio glitches today, sorry to say :P

    Anyway. awsome footage you captured, you've gotten me excited as all kinds of heck about this now. Thanks, thanks a bunch for luring me into my 3rd mmorpg addiction :P damn you all.

    Audio in the video version I assume you are probably talking about, because it was really kinda awful. Our machine that does the streaming and recording is getting a little taxed, and started dropping audio and frames.

    Thankfully, the MP3 and OGG audio versions are recorded on a different box, and came out sounding great!

  • Guys, this is the one show you do that I thought I would not enjoy as I have no intention of playing yet another MMO (one is enough for me, I think). But the show was very interesting and even if I don't actually try STO I'd probably keep listening in. Good job.

    One thing regarding the STO AI crew - I think this is very similar to the Guild Wars notion of "Heroes" which are computer controlled characters that a player collects and levels independently of the main character. In Guild Wars they are attached to a specific character so if you create multiple characters each has to collect their own heroes. Heroes join accompany your character when you go adventuring instead of other players if you don't have enough real player to form a party. So it sounds exactly like STO's crew characters.

    @ODed

    I think you're right, good call!

    Thanks for the kind words, glad you like the new show!

    I see you're talking alot about gfx engines, take a look at Funcom and their work.

    They are completely refreshing the gfx engine for Anarcy Online:

    From this:

    To this:

    And they have also developed their own engine that they are improving all the time, it's used in AoC and it will be used in TSW. So I wouldn't worry about aging gfx engines.
  • Eve Online graphics aren't that good, its only because you look at very low polygon-count models from far far away with a lot of bling bling.
